Package: The package is very primitive. The producers used Presley's mother image in order to put the spirit in the show. They tried to prove the idea that Elvis dedicated this show to his mother, although he never mentioned it. Everything about his mother was very personal and painful to El. He would never dedicate his mother a recreational show. The real reason to involve his mother in the package was to increase our interest in this particular show by making us think that everything was dedicated to her.
Elvis: Although the show started at 3 AM, he knew exactly what period of the day it was. After the first 2 songs Elvis welcomes the audience by saying: "Good Morning, Ladies and Gentlemen". Interesting is that only one year later he would sometimes mess the day and night by asking the time from the audience. And 4 years later he would leave the stage after about half an hour.
I think no mothers were present that night at such a prestigious place as Sahara Tahoe hotel. Anyhow, it was mothers day, but it does not get any effect on the show. It's quite average show with very ordinary repertoire, except Faded Love, which Elvis performed only once in this tour. Other interesting highlights are Rock and Roll medley and Release Me.
One more interesting thing happens after Can't Help Falling In Love. The orchestra starts playing 2001 theme and Opening Vamp once again! I don't know the reason for it, but it's quite strange.
In overall, I would recommend to buy this CD for die-hard collectors only, who can't wait for the FTD soundboard.
Show: The show is from the very unknown period of Elvis career. The only released shows after the famous January 1973 Aloha special are from February 1973 Las Vegas engagement (Elvis lost his voice on February 15 and was attacked on stage on February 18). After February we have only a few audience recordings, very few tapes and of course no official material. From this point this show is quite interesting as it puts the light on previously unknown period. But there are some things we need to know. First of all this show was the only one recorded on soundboard at this period and (as it was officially announced) it will be soon released under FTD label. That's why bootleggers tried to put this CD in the market as soon as possible. They want our money, fellows. In a few months this CD will be no longer interesting, because we will have a soundboard from FTD.
In general, we would like to mention that from the 4 released (at the moment) CD's under the title Man In White the only interesting thing was their first product (Man In White Vol. 1). Although this show was rather weak, at least it was a soundboard. The second disc was a re-release, two others were audience recordings, one of which (the one we are talking about) exists on soundboard and will be released soon.
